Elon Katweheyo

Leader Strategies Team Leader

Elon was born and raised in a Christian family. His parents and older siblings were already believers and were also involved in ministry. He acknowledged Jesus as his Savior and Lord when he was in primary three. Elon got the privilege to attend his first ever mission which lasted for 40 days during his senior six vacation. At the end of that mission, the leader asked those who had a desire to do Christian service with any Christian organization to move in front and complied by God’s leading.

At that time, he thought about his father who was a lecturer, yet still involved in ministry. So, he thought that he could also emulate him by being both a Telecom engineer and a minister. He did not know what the Lord had in store for him. He joined a senior six leavers’ fellowship at All Saints’ Cathedral Kampala after the mission and it helped him discover his purpose in life. During the fellowship, he attended a leadership training facilitated by LMU staff. He also learnt how to share his faith using the Four Spiritual Laws. He was set for university and knew he was going there to not only study but also make disciples. He immediately connected with student leaders of LIFE Ministry Uganda- Kyambogo upon reaching campus. He later served as the Team Leader for the movement.

In March 2012, Elon went for a mission conference in Tanzania at the University of Dodoma. That conference transformed his perspective towards missions. God also spoke specifically through Dr. Joyce Kule. She asked: “Would you serve a great visitor with leftover food?” That statement changed his life and he resolved to give God the best years of his life and serve Him with LMU. Throughout his campus days, Elon served the Lord diligently on campus and went for missions in and outside Uganda.

Upon completion of his studies in 2013, he joined LIFE Ministry Uganda as a missionary staff. It was not easy to give up his career in Telecom engineering, but he obeyed God. He attended several leadership summits and got to understand the demographics of Uganda and how it is the youngest country in the world. He knew that if he wanted to transform Uganda and Africa at large, he had to impact the young people. That was the opportunity LMU was giving him: to impact lives of young people for eternity. In February 2014, Elon went to Swaziland for New Staff Training (NST). It was a period of separation and seasoning. He returned to Uganda in November 2014 and served under Student-Led Movements till May 2017 when he was re-assigned as the Fund Development Coordinator. He served in this role till 2019 when he was re-assigned to Leader Impact (Professionals) Ministry as a team member.

On 9th July 2016, he got married to his wife Ruth and they have three children; Engabo, Eitungo, and Ekirunga. He holds an Masters of Arts in Transformational Leadership and a Bachelors of Engineering in Telecommunications Engineering.

Currently, Elon serves as the Leader Strategies Team Leader.
