Updates of what God is doing in people's lives
Douglas was born to Mr Robert Mukiibi Lutabi & Ms. Milly Nankya in Mbikko, Mukono District. His father worked as a tutor in a Teacher Training College when he was a toddler and he was later transferred from Kampala to Rakai. Most of his early childhood memories rotate around associating with student teachers whom his father taught at Rakai Primary Teachers’ College – Biikira.
In 2011, Douglas joined Kyambogo University and did a Bachelors of Arts with Education, majoring in History and Luganda language. He accepted the course when he realized that he was going to walk in his father’s footsteps of teaching the nation. He joined university with a lot of expectations. Having been in a single sex school for six years, he saw this as an opportunity for him to “redeem” what he had missed since childhood. He therefore attended many dance parties and roamed around the university during the fresher’s week. However, he felt an emptiness that could not be filled by fun, alcohol or even new friends. One evening, he attended a crusade that had been organized by LIFE Ministry Uganda – Kyambogo, in partnership with St. Kakumba Chapel. He gave his life to Christ on that day, 20th August 2011. He was introduced to discipleship meetings, evangelistic opportunities, prayer meetings and leadership trainings and conferences. In his second year, he became the Evangelism and Discipleship Coordinator for LIFE Ministry Uganda– Kyambogo. This role gave him more focus on the kingdom mandate and an opportunity for him to make the most of his time at university by serving the Lord. He saw multitudes of students receiving Christ and their lives being transformed at campus. This experience birthed in him a desire for full time Christian work and missions.
After finishing university, he joined LIFE Ministry Uganda as a fulltime missionary staff in August 2014. He later did New Staff Training (NST) in 2017 and he was assigned to serve at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) as the Campus Director in 2018. While he was working on the translation for Walking with Jesus series into Luganda in 2016, he met his wife Rita. They got married on 26th October 2019 and they are blessed with one child, Elizabeth Joy. Together, they serve at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono as Campus Directors and they are trusting God to build a spiritual movement of multiplying disciples at the university. Douglas also serves as the National Student Led Movement Team Leader.
